In 1904 appeared in a new neighborhood of Botafogo soccer club, Electro Club, first name given to the Botafogo Football Club.
The club was born from a conversation between two friends during a lesson. Flavio Ramos and Emmanuel Sodré studied together and during an algebra class, was born the first idea of founding a club, through a note passed by Flavio Emmanuel, who said: "Itamar has a club football in the street Martins Ferreira. We will set up another in the Largo Lions? We
can talk to Werneck, to Arthur Caesar, to Vincent and Jacques. "
And so it began, the boys who lived in the neighborhood of Botafogo, near the Largo Lions
met with other friends at a house in Largo Lions Club to found the Electro, on August 12.
This was the first name given to Botafogo, since the boys decided to charge tuition and
found a slip of a defunct club with that name, then decided to adopt.
Electro Club but only lasted until the 18th of September, when another meeting was at Grandma's in Flavio, Mrs. Chiquitota, who was shocked to know the name of the club and
then interfered with talking "Now living where you live, the club can only be called Botafogo" advised Mrs. Chiquitota, and it was done then was renamed Botafogo Football Club.
The first friendly, and the first victory, occurred on October 2, 1904, against the Football
and Athletic Club, Tijuca in 3 x 0 for the boys in the South Zone in 1906, the team
participated in the
first Carioca Championship. The following year, finished tied with Fluminense.
Thus was born the Botafogo Football Club, who after thirty-eight years of existence has joined the other Botafogo, the Regatta, which begins the Botafogo soccer and Races.
